At Bio Gardens, we also prepare tree seedlings for the farmers to plant in their gardens. We consider this as an economic and environmental conservation approach. We especially use trees with fruits which you can eat, from which you can use the wood as timber, for oil or with medicinal values.
It is also necessary to plant trees in the gulley valleys. The gulley valleys are flooded with water which comes down from the Rwenzori Mountains during rainy season. Because the sandy soil isn’t strong, the soil is washed away by the powerful water and it causes a lot of damage. The rain also washes away the crops and plants of the farmers and destroys their gardens. The roots of the trees can protect the soil from running out when the flood comes from the mountains.
